Chooks 3×3 runs roughshod on Chinese-Taipei to open Jakarta 3×3 campaign

The Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 All-Stars sent a statement to open their campaign in the Jakarta 3×3 International Invitational Challenge 2019, making quick work of Chinese-Taipei, 21-10 (6:08), Saturday at the CGV Basketball Court in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The quartet of Alvin Pasaol, Joshua Munzon, Santi Santillan, and Troy Rike proved to be too much for the world no. 40 squad in the rout that consists of Ya Hsuan Hsieh, Kai Hsiang Hu, Li Huan Cheng, and Yi Chin Su.

Munzon, the Philippines’ top player, scored all six of his points in the first two minutes of the game, giving Chooks 3×3 an early 7-5 lead.

Pasaol and Santillan then took charge from there. The former dropped bombs on Chinese-Taipei, while the latter powered his way inside.

Already holding a 13-8 lead, the duo went on a 5-0 spurt to bring Chooks 3×3 just two points away from taking the match.

Pasaol ended the Taiwanese’s misery with a top of the arc deuce with 3:52 left.

Pasaol led the way with eight points, while Santillan added six markers.

Up next for the Philippines is a match-up with neighbor Malaysia at 7:20 pm. The top two teams in the five-nation meet will advance to the final later at 10:00 pm.
