Adamson-PH crushes HK, India, rises to third in Uni Softball Asia Cup

Coming off a slim 1-2 defeat to Japan in their opener, Adamson University-Philippines rebounded big time with a double-digit rout of Hong Kong and India in Wednesday’s doubleheader at the Asian Universities Women’s Softball Asia Cup 2024, held at the Taichung International Field in Taiwan.

The Lady Falcons quickly asserted their dominance against both opponents, finishing off Hong Kong in just four innings, 13-0, and punishing India in only three, 22-0.

It was a fantastic performance from the Philippines’ sluggers and pitching staff in both matches.

Pitchers Reyae Villamin and Glory Alonzo combined for a no-hitter against Hong Kong, while Angelu Gabriel, MJ Maguad, and Victoria Magbanua each tallied two hits on the offensive end.

Gabriel, Alaiza Talisik, and Jane Marie Sigue drove in two runs apiece in the first match, while Chastene Jover, Mae Langga, Mea Tubongbanua, Maguad, and Neo May Mahinay each delivered a run.

That victory against Hong Kong set the tone for an even fiercer performance by Adamson against India.

Sigue, who was the designated hitter against Hong Kong, pitched the first two innings against India and threw a gem, allowing no hits while striking out three.

Villamin closed out the win in the third inning to enforce the mercy rule.

Jeelyn Pajotal (four), Libaton (three), Mahinay (three), and Roma Jane Cruz (three) led the dominant hitting display by the Lady Falcons in the second game of the doubleheader.

Together, they combined for 13 of the team’s 22 hits.

Pajotal accounted for five runs batted in, while Cruz had three of her own.

The Lady Falcons will have another doubleheader tomorrow, facing Singapore at 12 p.m. before meeting South Korea at 2:00 PM.
