Justin Brownlee has 20-20 as Ginebra ends funk at NLEX’s expense

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel have finally stopped their three-game slide by defeating the NLEX Road Warriors, 93-85, to keep their playoff hopes in the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup alive, Saturday at Legazpi City, Albay.

The Gin Kings have improved to 2-5, while the Road Warriors have lost their second straight and are now 2-6.

Justin Brownlee played superb once more much to the delight of the Barangay, finishing with excellent numbers of 23 points and 22 rebounds with seven assists in over 42 minutes that he graced the court.

The six-foot-five scorer from Tifton, Georgia played a huge role in Ginebra’s pull-away to open the fourth quarter. A jam of his with 8:41 on the clock propelled the Gin Kings to their biggest lead of the game at 85-66.

Japeth Aguilar played decent and supplied 13 points for Ginebra. Greg Slaughter had a double-double of his own with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while LA Tenorio chipped in 10 markers and four dimes against four errors.

Arnett Moultrie paced the Road Warriors with 30 points, 19 rebounds, and four steals. Emman Monfort was his only support in the loss as the diminutive point guard provided 14 markers, foir caroms, and two dimes.

Both squads shot an identical 35 percent from the field, but Ginebra dominated the rebounds, 69-53.

Ginebra will look to collect another win against Magnolia on June 17, Sunday, 6:45 PM at the SMART Araneta Coliseum, while NLEX will try to get back on track as they play Alaska on June 15, Friday, 7:00 PM at the Mall of Asia Arena.
