In what will be the only game loss for the entire University of Santo Tomas team, John Mark Sotea would fall to Lorenz Gatpolintan in the 1st set of their match with a 19-21 score. Sotea would then take the next two games with scores of 21-16 and 21-17 to gain the point for the shuttlers from Espana.
