As someone who has provided grounds for hope in the fields of sports and pageantry, Michele Gumabao continues to give people a reason to be hopeful even in the midst of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The bemedalled volleyball athlete and Miss Globe Philippines 2018 reached out to relief operations in Camp Olivas in San Fernando, Pampanga on Tuesday through the ‘Rektang Bayanihan’ project, the local government’s assistance to affected families during the lockdown.
Gumabao, alongside her beau Aldo Panlilio, handed out chickens and fresh vegetables from Baguio to the locals and frontliners around the said area.
The relief efforts took place after the Creamline stalwart hosted the live broadcast of Rektang Konek Aksyon Agad, the update program of the Philippine National Police.
Gumabao, a three-time V-League Best Opposite Spiker, also distributed 100 ‘Your 200 Pesos’ Eco Packs, Bonchon Chicken meals, and Creamline goods to a large group of construction workers in Barangay Bangkal in Makati City.
“We’re not just an organization that will help the less fortunate, but also those who have lost their jobs and who have not been able to work, especially during this time of pandemic,” she said in a video message.
Besides this, Gumabao also extended a helping hand to those in need around the Quezon City area. She has also shared words of encouragement through guesting in a podcast and provided inspiration to stay fit through her social media accounts.
