Chris Ross assures he’s ready for Game 4

Chris Ross gave an assurance that he will suit up for San Miguel Beermen in Game Four of the 2018 Philippine Cup semifinals on Thursday, even if he saw very limited action in Game Three Tuesday night due to a leg injury.

The six-foot-two point guard only played for 16:05 minutes in Game Three, sitting out for the rest of the second half due to a strained right thigh. Ross ended the night with six points, five rebounds, three assists, and steal.

The 33-year-old’s absence was greatly missed as the Beermen lost to a hungry Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 87-95, sending the best-of-seven series to 2-1.

“I’ll be ready. I’m a warrior,” he shared.

The nine-year league veteran admitted that the leg injury has been hobbling him since Game Two last Sunday which San Miguel won, 104-102. But he still decided to play through it, until the pain was no longer bearable come Game Three.

“It was hurting before Game Two and I just played through it. Got some treatment yesterday. It was okay, felt okay, and then in the first quarter, felt something and couldn’t really move it,” said Ross, who is averaging 8.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.3 steals in the series.

“We’ll look at it.”

But even if he has yet to determine what his injury is, Ross is setting his sights for Game Four, as he and the Beermen are aiming to bounce back and take a commanding 3-1 lead to move a game away from returning to the Big Dance.

“The ball only bounced their way today so we’ll make some adjustments and be ready to play on Thursday.”
