Troy Rosario returns to Gilas practice

The recovering Troy Rosario was a glaring sight inside the Meralco Gym on Tuesday evening, as Gilas Pilipinas’ nightly practices resumed.

Rosario, whose status with the Nationals was uncertain following an in-game accident last February 7, has apparently been cleared to partake in basketball activities, as he joined his brothers-at-arms in the rigorous session.

The athletic forward from TNT Katropa joined Kevin Alas, Matthew Wright, Jio Jalalon, Gabe Norwood, Japeth Aguilar, Roger Pogoy, Calvin Abueva, Allein Maliksi, Carl Cruz, June Mar Fajardo, and Jayson Castro in the workouts.

Naturalized center Andray Blatche was also in attendance.

Mac Belo was present but sat on the sidelines, clad in street clothes. The Blackwater Elite forward is still nursing a strained iliotibial band (ITB) in his right leg, which caused him to miss their match with the San Miguel Beermen last week.

Kiefer Ravena also sat out together with Belo due to flu-like symptoms.

The cadets, on the other hand, were represented by Lyceum Pirates’ main man CJ Perez and FEU Tamaraws Arvin Tolentino and Kenneth Tuffin. Robert Bolick also came by, but did not participate in the drills.

Gilas is maximizing the time it has here in Manila before flying to Australia on February 19. They will then face the Boomers on the 22nd, in the hopes of earning their third straight victory after going spotless in the first window.
