The Arellano University Chiefs made short work of the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Golden Stags in three sets, 25-16, 25-14, 25-13, and closed out their eliminations at 8-1, Thursday morning at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Outside spiker Roi Domingo took advantage of the opportunity as a starter and led the Legarda-based squad with 11 points off seven attacks, three aces, and a block. Middle hitter Kevin Liberato finished with eight points, seven of which are attacks.
With sights at nothing less than the title, team skipper Christopher Soriano shared that such preliminaries record shows “Yung motivation lang namin sa panalo.”
He added, “Nung natalo kami sa Perps, ginawa lang naming motivation na mapanalo yung last remaining games. Sinipagan lang namin sa training.”
The Chiefs, which finished at 8-1, will finish at second place or at first place depending on the results of the other games. But twice-to-beat or not, the Arellano wing spiker knew they need to continue working hard.
Soriano shared, “Sisipagan pa rin namin sa ensayo. Pag-aaralan namin yung laro ng kalaban.”
The Stags, which was aptly led by captain Francis Ronato in this game at eight points, closed their season at 2-7.
