ANTIPOLO — Jordan Heading came through this time as the locals continued to shine, helping TNT draw first blood in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup semis with a 94-89 escape from Meralco at the Ynares Center here Wednesday.
The lefty guard delivered 16 points off the bench, providing much needed support to usual suspects Roger Pogoy and Calvin Oftana especially in the final period, where the Tropang 5G built enough separation to come away with the win.
He scored six in a 9-2 run, pushing their narrow four-point lead to a 90-79 advantage approaching the final three minutes of the series opener.
Thanks to their help, Bol Bol got himself more gas in the endgame, coming through with a tough layup for the eventual scoreline with 56.3 seconds left which proved enough to douse cold water to the Bolts’ late-game rally.
