Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC showcased their dominance with a clinical straight-sets win over Al Naser, 25-10, 25-15, 25-11, to complete a sweep of Pool A in the 2025 AVC Women’s Champions League on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.
The Kazakh powerhouse overwhelmed the Jordanians from start to finish, closing pool play with a perfect 2-0 record and carrying strong momentum into the quarterfinals.
Zhetysu’s triumph also paved the way for local favorite Creamline Cool Smashers to advance.
Creamline clinched the second seed in Pool A with a 1-1 record, booking a quarterfinal berth in the same tournament supported by Mikasa, Mizuno, and Grand Sport.
Head coach Marko Gršić praised his team’s preparation and confidence heading into the match.
“I’m very glad because we win today and we finished first in the group. I expected [the result] because when I saw the Jordanian team, I know we’re a better team than them,” said Gršić.
“But I’m satisfied with how my team approached [the game], and I’m pretty sure that we are going to be ready for the quarterfinals.”
Karyna Denysova led the charge once again with 11 points and seven excellent digs, while Yuliia Dymar contributed nine markers in the one-hour, four-minute demolition.
Denysova and Kristina Anikonova ignited a 9-0 finishing burst in the first set that turned a manageable 16-10 lead into a runaway 25-10 win — setting the tone for the rest of the match.
Tatyana Nikitina chipped in six points and six excellent digs, while Anikonova also scored six as Zhetysu stamped their authority atop Pool A.
The quarterfinals begin Thursday at the same venue, for this tournament organized by Sports Vision and supported by local sponsors PLDT, MWell, Eagle Cement, Rebisco, Akari, Gameville, PNVF, PSC, Cignal, and The Look Group.
Meanwhile, Al Naser’s Isabela Paquiardi tried to keep her team afloat with 11 points and five excellent digs, while Ilisandra Klein added nine markers.
The Jordanians ended their campaign winless, joining Queensland of Australia and Saipa Tehran of Iran as the eliminated teams.
