Zamboanga crashes out of Dubai with 0-4 record


Zamboanga’s campaign in the 34th Dubai International Basketball Tournament came to a crushing end, suffering a 95-59 defeat to world No. 36 Tunisia on Wednesday evening at Al Nasr Club.

The Valientes lost all four of their games, averaging a losing margin of 24.75 points per contest.

Their closest match was a 15-point loss to Al Nasr in the opener.

Against Tunisia, Zamboanga fell behind early, trailing 23-11 in the first quarter—a deficit they never recovered from. Tunisia’s lead ballooned to as much as 42 points.

Former NBA player Adonis Thomas was limited to just five points and one rebound.

Sam Deguara led Zamboanga with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while UST standout Nic Cabanero chipped in 14 points.

Prince Caperal also contributed 13 points and four rebounds.

Every Tunisian player who saw action scored in the contest, with Wassef Methnani leading the way with 17 points.

Omar Abada added 15 points, five assists, and four rebounds, while Jawhar Jawadi and Radhouane Slimane finished with 10 points each.
