Valdez looks to give back through Crosscourt PH

After an illustrious five-year UAAP career, Alyssa Valdez now sets her focus on giving back through the sport she loves.

At a press conference at The Frazzeled Cook restautant in Quezon City, Valdez announced her new venture, Crosscourt PH – a multimedia initiative that looks to promote volleyball online, on the ground, and on print. It already has a website and looks to produce two magazines per year. Valdez will also hold skills camps around nearby provinces.

“The goal of Crosscourt is to inspire the youth. It’s not just about making your own name, but it’s about finding the right people to ride the boat with, so we’re gonna have another generation of disciplined athletes, of hard-working and determined athletes,” said Valdez.

The Skills camp opens on May 5-7 at the STI Academic Center in Calamba, Laguna. The second camp will be on May 10-14 at the STI Academic Center in Cubao, followed by another camp on May 16-18 in Valdez’s home province of Batangas. The last camp will be held on May 19-21 at the STI Academic Center in Cainta, Rizal.

On May 22, they will hold a culminating activity at an as-yet undetermined venue. “We’re gonna look for the best athletes per camp, who will play with the volley friends on the culminating night,” said Valdez.

Valdez has already invited fellow Ateneo Lady Eagles Ella De Jesus, Bea De Leon, Jho Maraguinot, and Amy Ahomiro to participate in the camp together, with her fellow Batangueños Kim Fajardo and Ysay Marasigan. NCAA stars Grethcel Soltones and John Vic De Guzman will also join different legs.

“I really want to reach out to the kids, all the volleyball supporters. I think this is the right time to say thank you for the past five years of playing in the UAAP for Ateneo,” Valdez closed.
