V.League: Cellar-dweller VC Nagano stuns Bagunas, Oita Miyoshi

For the first time this season, cellar dweller VC Nagano won back-to-back games and it came at the expense of the Filipino imports in Japan V.League.

The Tridents toppled Bryan Bagunas’ Oita Miyoshi in four sets, 25-19, 25-21, 19-25, 25-20, Saturday at the Shiojiri City Gymnasium.

Last Sunday, VC Nagano defeated Marck Espejo’s FC Tokyo in four sets as well.

Bagunas made 19 points on a very efficient 19-of-30 spiking rate but was not enough to dispose of the Tridents.

Local player Kota Ikeda led VC Nagano with 18 points on 16 attacks, a block, and a service ace, while Rivan Nurmulki added 14 points.

The Tridents are now tied with the Weisse Adler for ninth at 5-30. VC Nagano got two default wins against JTEKT in their cancelled matches last March 12 and 13 as the latter caused the cancellation.

Venezuelan import Emerson Rodriguez led Oita Miyoshi with 24 points founded on 20 attacks, two blocks, and two aces.

Bagunas and his team will have a chance to retaliate against VC Nagano tomorrow at 12 pm (Manila time) at the same arena.
