Thoss says Fajardo is getting even better

Alaska big man Sonny Thoss is one of the many frontcourt players in the PBA who’ve had many match ups with June Mar Fajardo, and he says the San Miguel giant has gotten a lot better now.

“He’s just getting better and better everytime. He’s a dominating force down there. No matter what I do he will still get the ball and score,” Thoss said Wednesday night after Alaska edged San Miguel, 103-97.

Thoss has been around the league for a decade now and he saw how Fajardo has developed even more skills as a big man.

Fajardo finished with a career-high 43 points including 13-for-20 field goals and 17-for-18 from the free throw line. He added 20 rebounds.Baguio-Fajardo Thoss says Fajardo is getting even better - philippine sports news

The reigning two-time MVP was so dominant, Aces head coach Alex Compton resorted to jokes when asked to comment about how Alaska was able to at least contain the big man.

“We shut him down, he missed a free throw and that’s because of our defensive effort,” Compton said in jest.

Thoss, who finished with 18 points and 5 rebounds in close to 26 minutes, added Fajardo’s presence is one of the key factors in the Beermen’s success, and he feels the big man has not yet reached his ceiling.

“I have a lot of respect for him. He is improving every year. You have to double or triple-team him and if you do that other people get open. He’s a big reason they are successful over there,” Thoss shared.

“Sky is the limit for him. The guy is very humble, willing to learn, and he’s young. I wish him all the best.
