Savouge RTU Basilan rediscovered its fire in the fifth set after losing its balance in the third and fourth to escape Alpha Omega, 25-16, 25-23, 19-25, 23-25, 15-10, for a piece of pole position in Pool D of the 2023 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference, Friday.
Elite Spikers Razzel Palisoc, AC Guinto, and Anfernee Curamen came alive in the third frame and continued their barrage in the fourth to force a decider.
However, second-stringer Renzel Antonio provided the spark in the early parts of the fifth while Lorenz Señoron and Jaison Angeles finished the job for the Golden Thunders to remain undefeated.
“At least nung fifth set naipakita pa rin nila yung laro nila. Nung third at fourth set nawala kasi nawalan ng block at service,” said Savouge head coach Sabtal Abdul.
The Golden Thunders tied Chef on a Diet-FEU atop Pool D with identical 2-0 records while pushing Alpha Omega down to 0-2.

Alnasim Amilbahar top-scored for the Golden Thunders with 15 points, Señoron followed with 14 to go with 12 excellent receptions, while Angeles added 10 points.
Kenneth Hernandez, who had a bad fall in the fourth set but continued to play until the end while limping, tossed 22 excellent sets for Savouge.
Palisoc delivered 19 points on 14 attacks and five blocks for the Elite Spikers, who also got 11 points from Guinto to go with his 25 excellent receptions.
Savouge aims for three in a row on Friday when it tangles with PGJC-Navy, while Alpha Omega looks to rebound on November 12 against The Bayleaf Hotels.
