Spikers Turf: FEU-Chef on a Diet scrapes past Xentro Mall to go 3-0

Far Eastern U-Chef on a Diet secured its third consecutive victory in the Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference, defeating Xentro Mall-Emilio Aguinaldo College with a score of 25-20, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21.

Despite facing challenges, the Morayta-based spikers relied on Jelord Talisayan and Dryx Saavedra’s clutch performances to overcome errors and maintain their unbeaten streak in Pool D.

Committing 36 unforced errors, 11 more than EAC, FEU’s Talisayan and Saavedra played pivotal roles in securing the win.

Head coach Eddieson Orcullo expressed concern over the errors but emphasized the importance of maintaining a killer instinct.

Martin Bugaoan led the Tamaraws with 16 points, supported by Saavedra’s 16-point effort and Jomel Codilla’s 14 markers.

FEU aims for a quarterfinal berth against Alpha Omega on Nov. 24, while EAC seeks redemption against Savouge-RTU Basilan on Sunday.

On the other hand, Saints and Lattes-Letran rebounded after a two-week break, clinching a 25-21, 25-23, 25-23 victory over St. Gerrard Construction-Benilde in Pool C.

Letran head coach Brian Esquibel highlighted their preparation for the match, acknowledging the team’s control over the game.

John Derrick Bautista top-scored for the Saints Spikers with 13 points, supported by Felix Bermido and Lorenz Vicente, each contributing 10 markers.

Reigning NCAA Rookie of the Year Vince Himzon returned and added 10 points to the team’s success.

Despite a close match, Letran secured the win with Vicente’s crucial cross-court hit.

Letran, with a 2-1 record, will face Adamson U-Davies Paints on Sunday, while Benilde, at 1-2, aims to bounce back against Cignal on Friday.

The victory keeps Letran in the quarterfinal hunt in Pool C, where Adamson and Cignal lead with identical 3-0 cards.
