Seeing Pablo go down fired up F2, says Dy

With Myla Pablo exiting the game due to cramps, Kianna Dy made sure to step up in the fourth set and finish off what F2 Logistics started against Choco Mucho on Tuesday night.

Pablo, who suffered from a viral infection that caused her to miss the team’s previous practice, converted a cross-court hit to help the Cargo Movers close the gap, 8-10, early in the fourth set. However, she was immediately taken out of the game after cramping up and falling on the floor.PVL-2023-F2-vs.-Choco-Mucho-Myla-Pablo-8080 Seeing Pablo go down fired up F2, says Dy News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Unfortunately, nag-cramps si ate My [Pablo] but we used it as motivation na rin na, ‘Oh, yung teammate natin hindi na makalaro so let’s play this game for her’,” said Dy after the four-set win.

Dy shouldered the scoring load with Pablo out and nailed the crucial hits that helped F2 Logistics secure a 25-23, 25-19, 13-25, 25-22 win over the Flying Titans in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena.

The 5-foot-10 opposite spiker from La Salle fired an off-the-block hit late in the fourth frame to extend the Cargo Movers’ lead to 22-20. Kat Tolentino answered with a down-the-line attack but Dy once again came to F2 Logistics’ defense with a cross-court hit to maintain the two-point advantage.PVL-2023-F2-vs.-Choco-Mucho-Kim-Dy-8170 Seeing Pablo go down fired up F2, says Dy News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

Elaine Kasilag pushed the Cargo Movers at match point before Maddie Madayag saved a point with a running attack. Dy then ended it all up with another cross-court hit.

The three-time UAAP champion rued the team’s slow start in the first set where they trailed 12-16 en route to a close 25-23 victory that gave them a 1-0 lead.

Dy, though, said she’s glad to get the win over Choco Mucho, a team that they have yet to beat since joining the PVL. Making the win sweeter is the fact that the victory brought the Cargo Movers closer to the semifinals.

“This game we started slow. Hindi pwede yung galaw namin specially palapit na yung semis so I think that’s something we have to improve on also, kailangan pag-start laban agad. Hindi yung ganito na nakikita na nga na-i-injure na yung ibang teammates namin so kailangan as soon as we can, tapusin na,” said Dy.

“Syempre happy. Like what coach (Regine Diego) said, a win is a win so we’re very happy that we beat them. It gives us more chances of entering the final four and Choco Mucho also fought hard, it was a hard battle… it was a nice game.”
