St. Dominic College of Asia (SDCA) continued its commanding run in the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) Season 16 Seniors Basketball Tournament, cruising past the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P), 75-47, on Saturday at the Trinity University of Asia Gym in Quezon City.
The Pikemen remained unbeaten with a flawless 5-0 record in the 10-team league, showcasing their depth as 12 of the 13 players fielded contributed at least three points.
Edward Daquioag and Chad Amante spearheaded SDCA’s attack with 12 and 11 points, respectively, while Daquioag also pulled down eight rebounds to anchor the team’s dominance.
Meanwhile, defending champions La Consolacion College Manila (LCCM) and ICCT Colleges kept pace in the standings, both improving to 4-1 records after securing victories against their respective opponents.
The LCCM Blue Royals, supported by Demigod, Pureblends, Uratex, A-Game, and Infinite Basketball, edged the Treston Golden Lions, 63-59, behind stellar performances from Eyle Cordano and Christian Antonio, who each scored 15 points.
Cordona added six rebounds and five assists, while Christian Alonzo delivered an all-around effort with eight points, seven assists, and five rebounds.
ICCT’s Blue Dragons, on the other hand, overpowered the ALIAC Blazing Phoenix, 71-58, with Melvin Katipunan lighting up the scoreboard.
Katipunan erupted for 29 points on an efficient 12-of-21 shooting performance, while Harold de Guzman chipped in 18 points to seal the win.
ALIAC continued to struggle, remaining winless at 0-5, while Treston dropped to 2-3.
Despite their lopsided loss, UA&P found some silver linings in the performances of Jericho Perez and Travis Batino, who combined for 29 of the team’s 47 points.
World Citi Colleges (WCC) leaned on the trio of Klien Lizan, Carl Lampa, and Louie Lime to fend off Manila Tytana, 63-58.
The victory lifted the Skyhawks to fourth place with a 3-1 record.
Lizan tallied 16 points and seven rebounds, Lampa contributed 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting, and Lime delivered a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
In another game, the PATTS Seahorses pulled off a 61-53 upset against the Philippine Women’s University (PWU), finally breaking into the win column.
Joshua Bungon led PATTS with 19 points, while Mark Morada and John Benitez added 15 and 12 points, respectively.
The loss dropped PWU to 3-2, while the Manila Tytana Titans slipped to 2-3.
