Savi Davison proud of PLDT’s response after deflating loss to Cignal

RODRIGUEZ, RIZAL – PLDT had to swallow the bitter taste of defeat last Tuesday, for the first time in seven months.

The High Speed Hitters endured a tough straight-set loss to an import-less Cignal, leaving them at a crossroads — either crumble or respond.

And on Saturday night, they made their choice clear.

Behind a fiery performance from Savannah Davison, PLDT vented its frustrations on Farm Fresh. They rallied from a set down to hand the Foxies their first loss of the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-16, at the Ynares Center in Montalban.

For Davison, the victory was more than just a bounce-back — it was a statement about who the High Speed Hitters truly are.

“I think what tells a team is how they recover from a loss,” said Davison.

“I’m just glad that we showed up today. I’m glad that we didn’t take anything for granted. Point by point, we pushed the gap.”

The Fil-Canadian outside hitter led PLDT with 20 points built on 18 attacks, a block, and an ace, while also tallying eight excellent receptions. She shared that the team made it a priority to quickly reset and focus on their response instead of dwelling on disappointment.

“I’m just happy, especially against a team like that — they have a lot of good athletes, especially Helene,” she added. “So I’m just glad that we persevered and finished it.”

Now, with the first round nearing its close, Davison said the goal is to maintain that same fire and consistency moving forward. For her, the challenge is turning this bounce-back win into a springboard rather than a high point.

“I think it’s a long road. We’re not even thinking of the playoffs yet — we gotta take care of business next week first, then kinda recoup and reset,” said the PVL Invitational MVP.

“We’re heading into a crossover. Day by day, how do we stay healthy, how do we maintain, how do we get better? From here on out, it’s just point by point, game by game.”
