The San Juan Warriors and Xavier School San Juan emerged as top winners in the recently concluded Xavier Sucere Basketball Cup 2024, held at the Florida Uytengsu and George K. Young Gymnasium from October 26 to 29, 2024.
The San Juan Warriors claimed two titles – winning the 18-under crown with a 63-55 victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College and securing the 16-under title by defeating Ateneo de Davao, 72-66.
Meanwhile, Xavier School San Juan clinched the 14-under championship with a dominant 91-68 win over GTU.
In the 12-under division, the Tigersharks edged Troodons Pilipinas, 65-62, to secure the title in the tournament presented by Sucere Foods Corporation.
Guillian Quines and Rob Celiz of the San Juan Mighty Warriors were named MVPs of the 18U and 16U divisions, respectively.
Tristan Clores of Xavier School San Juan earned the 14U MVP honors, while Hubert Enciso of the Tigersharks was recognized as the 12U MVP.
Despite the challenges posed by Typhoon Kristine, the tournament successfully proceeded, with all but one provincial team making the trip.
Ateneo de Naga had to withdraw due to the typhoon, but tournament officials expressed optimism about their participation next year.
The Xavier Sucere Basketball Cup 2024 was supported by PGA Cars, Converge FiberX, Anta, Boysen, W Group Inc., Power Mac Center, Celsius, Koster, Predator, Wealthmore, MEC Network, George, East Ocean Palace, Clean Fuel, Powerhouse, Burlington, and Fat Daddy.
For fans unable to attend the games, the Xavier Sucere Basketball Cup will air on Solar Sports on weekdays at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until December 20.
In addition, the Alumni Association of Xavier School/Xavier Alumni Basketball League (XABL) recently became a member of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP).
SBP Executive Director Erika Dy attended the event, observing both the Xavier Sucere Basketball Cup and the Xavier Alumni Basketball League.
XABL Tournament Director Sammy Uy and Commissioner Bong Dela Cruz welcomed Dy and presented her with a souvenir tapestry for her office. The league expressed its commitment to supporting SBP’s future plans.
