In the day’s opening game, Harold Reyes and the Letran Knights picked up their first win of the season in straight sets against JRU. The tournament hosts diffused the Bombers, 28-26 25-17 25-23. It was a tight affair with no team totally dominating the match. Letran had the advantage in the attacks and blocks (36-31 and 5-2) against a relatively smaller JRU lineup. Nevertheless, it was the errors of the Heavy Bombers in the crucial moments that spelled their doom. Reyes had 13 points to pace the Knights, with Bobby Gatdula and Jov Hernandez both contributing 8 markers. Larry Sioco Jr. was the only Bomber in double figures with 10.
