The Korean Basketball Association is set to announce seven new players to its 14-man roster for the Quezon City window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
The sudden change in Korea’s lineup was brought about by seven players churning positive RT-PCR tests that forced them out of the window.
Two confirmed players who have been ruled out are big men Ricardo Ratliffe and 6-foot-9 Kim Jongkyu.
Also testing positive were Heo Hoon and Lee Woosuk while Choi Junyong is nursing a sprained ankle.
The other positive cases were not revealed by Heoball.
Ratliffe was pivotal in Korea’s campaign in both the Clark window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers and the Olympic Qualifying Tournament-Kaunas.
Kim, on the other hand, played two games in the Asia Cup Qualifiers, norming 14.0 points on 53.3-percent shooting and 6.0 rebounds.
The KBA will announce its new roster today with the pool entering a training bubble in Goyang tomorrow.
The cagers from the Far East are set to collide with the hosts twice, first on February 24 and then on the 28th.
They also face the Tall Blacks on the 25th, followed by a meeting with Indians on the 27th. They will play four games in five days.
