Ranidel De Ocampo comes full circle, joins TNT’s staff

Ranidel De Ocampo will not stay away from the game for long.

The 38-year-old, who retired last April after 15 seasons in the PBA, will take on a new career as he is set to join TNT’s coaching staff.

KaTropa team manager Gabby Cui confirmed the development Monday.

“Coach Ranidel brings us a wealth of championship experience and basketball knowledge that will definitely help our team reach our aspirations for another championship,” he said in a statement.

De Ocampo has returned to the franchise which he helped win a total of six championships from 2009 to 2015.

He last played for TNT in 2017, before being traded to Meralco in the same year. He spent his last seasons in the league with the Bolts.

Many have expected De Ocampo to turn to coaching, including former Gilas Pilipinas head coach and ex-TNT consultant Tab Baldwin.

He joins a staff led by active consultant Mark Dickel and head coach Bong Ravena.
