It appears that Justin Brownlee has yet to fully recover from his injuries.
As a result, Barangay Ginebra is bringing in Puerto Rican forward Jordan Murphy as its import when the 2026 PBA Governors’ Cup resumes in October.
The 6-foot-6 Murphy will replace Riley Grigsby, who played in Ginebra’s first six games of the conference as the Gin Kings went 2-4 during that stretch.
Tim Cone confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
Despite the team’s struggles, Grigsby put up impressive numbers, averaging 34.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.0 steal per game.

Ginebra originally planned to have Brownlee return after the break, but the veteran import has yet to be cleared for competitive play. Brownlee also missed both of Gilas Pilipinas’ Window 4 games in the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers as well as the 20th Asian Games.
With Brownlee still unavailable, Ginebra has turned to Murphy, a product of the University of Minnesota.
Murphy went undrafted in 2019 before making three stints in the NBA G League with the Iowa Wolves, Austin Spurs, and Greensboro Swarm. He has also played professionally in Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Earlier in the day, Murphy’s longtime Puerto Rican team, Leones de Ponce, traded his rights along with a first-round pick to the Piratas de Quebradillas in exchange for Nate Santos ahead of the 2027 BSN season.
Ginebra will make its return on October 9 against Rain or Shine.
