PVL: Nxled crushes Strong Group, stays afloat in semis race

Barely hanging on, Nxled kept its semifinal hopes alive by eliminating Strong Group from contention with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-15 win in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the Philsports Arena.

Ivy Lacsina took charge for the Chameleons, scoring 16 points to help her squad snap a two-game losing streak and force a four-way tie with Akari, Galeries, and Farm Fresh in the seventh to tenth slots.

More importantly, the win allowed Nxled to remain in the playoff race. However, the Chameleons must sweep their remaining matches to have a shot at entering the semifinals.

“Siguro masaya po ako na ganun po yung performance, pero syempre marami pa po kaming makakalaban na malalakas so mas magma-matter po sa akin yung manalo po yung team namin ngayon and sa mga susunod po na games,” said Lacsina after the victory.

Jho Maraguinot registered 12 points and eight excellent digs while Camille Victory and Lycha Ebon added 10 and nine points, respectively, for the Chameleons.

Kamille Cal tossed 14 excellent sets in the win while Dani Ravena had 10 excellent digs.

Nxled dominated in all scoring categories, tallying 46 attacks, six blocks, and three aces, while the Athletics could only muster 25 attack points, one block, and one ace in the 82-minute match.

Nxled faces off against Farm Fresh on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Philsports Arena.

On the other hand, the Athletics dropped their seventh consecutive game in as many outings, which eliminated them from the semifinals race.

Team captain Dolly Versoza paced SGA with 12 points, along with six excellent receptions and four excellent digs, while Souzan Raslan and Justine Rebleza combined for four points.
