PVL: Deanna Wong steers Choco Mucho to sweep of Nxled, 4th straight win

Choco Mucho thumped Nxled in straight sets, 25-11, 25-20, 25-19, to bag its fourth consecutive victory in the Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference at the Philsports Arena, Tuesday.

The Flying Titans sustained their hot streak after losing to sister squad Creamline in their debut, defeating Farm Fresh, Cignal, Galeries Tower, and now the Chameleons to force a logjam at the second spot where they are tied with Petro Gazz, PLDT, and Chery Tiggo with identical 4-1 win-loss standings.

“Lagi naman pinapaalala ni Coach Dante (Alinsunurin) sa mga players namin na importante yung sistema sa loob ng court,” said Choco Mucho assistant coach Jessie Lopez, who filled in for Alinsunurin in the post-match interview.

“Kailangan namin magadjust lagi every situation, every set kasi syempre iba’t iban opponents, iba’t iba yung kilos, pumapasok din don yung scouting and pinapaaral talaga ni coach Dante kung sino makakalaban namin sa susunod,” he added.

The Chameleons threatened to send the game to a fourth set after Camille Victoria scored on back-to-back hits to tie the game at 19-all late in the third frame.

However, Isa Molde made sure to finish the game off and answered back with three-straight attacks that turned into a six-to-nothing finishing kick for the Flying Titans which sealed the game after an hour and 13 minutes of play.

“Malaking bagay yun na bukod sa sistema na pinapagawa ni Coach Dante sa choco mucho is yunga mismong player yung nagoobserve don sa kalaban. Kaya makikita niyo sa game na smooth although nagkakamali pero andan pa rin yung system,” added Lopez.

Isa Molde continued to provide a boost with nine points and six excellent receptions while Chery Nunag, Kat Tolentino, and Aduke Ogunsanya chipped in six points apiece in the win.

Choco Mucho will try to extend its winning streak to five games against Akari next on Saturday, 4:00 p.m.

Jhoana Maraguinot paced Nxled with 14 points built on 13 attacks and one service ace to go along with 13 excellent receptions while Judith Abil had 11 points off the bench.

The Chameleons, who had a solid opening game against Gerflor, have now lost their fourth consecutive game to slide at 1-4, remaining in the ninth spot.

Nxled will try to bounce back against Chery Tiggo on Thursday also at 4:00 p.m.
