PMNVT’s SEAG participation heads to NOC voting

A day after the controversial non-inclusion of the Philippine Men’s National Volleyball Team in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, the Cambodia Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC) has released a statement regarding the matter.

CAMSOC, headed by chairman Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, and the Volleyball Federation of Cambodia, headed by president Neth Savoeun, said that they support the inclusion of the Philippines in the tournament that begins on May 1 at the Morodok Techo Elephant Hall.

However, the inclusion of the Philippines and a re-draw must go into a votation with the participating National Olympic Committees – including the Philippine Olympic Committee

The POC must garner five votes from the participating NOCs.

Nations involved are Cambodia – which will vote in favor of the POC – Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Myanmar.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Volleyball Federation national team committee chairman Tony Boy Liao said that the men’s indoor team will still head to Japan as planned on Sunday.

Composing the men’s team are Joshua Umandal, Vince Mangulabnan, Steven Rotter, Lloyd Josafat, Kim Dayandante, Vince Lorenzo, Jayvee Sumagaysay, Rwenzmel Taguibolos, Leo Ordiales, Manuel Sumanguid, Jade Disquitado, Jay Rack Dela Noche, Cyrus De Guzman, and Michael Vincente.

Head coach of the team is Sergio Valadares Veloso.
