The Philippine Football Federation taken action in the ongoing case of Global FC.
After continued failure to pay its overdue debts to its employees, the PFF has suspended the Philippines Football League license of the once-proud club.
“After evaluation, the First Instance Body has issued a 90-day suspension of Global FC’s PFF license due to the club’s failure to settle its overdue payables to its employees (players, officials, and staff),” read the federation’s statement.
During that span, Global FC is instructed to demonstrate that either the payables are “fully settled, deferred by mutual agreement by the creditor, or are subject to a not obviously unfounded dispute submitted to a competent authority”.
If the ownership of the club does not accomplish this, Global FC’s license will be revoked, and it will no longer be eligible to apply for a new license.
The financial problems of the club reached the public after Global’s graphic artist Saya Jaruda took to social media to share his experience of non-payment for his works.
Players then also took social media, saying that they too were duped by the club.
Though the PFF and PFL tried to intervene, the club did not meet deadlines.
Instead, the owner of the club Mazinyi Management left the team’s group chat, saying that Mark Jarvis was still the owner of the team, according to Global icon Misagh Bahadoran.
“Players have to survive also, like they have better offer[s] for them in Thailand or other countries. The owners left us and that’s just really sad. That’s the only thing I can’t forget in my football career — to see Global become like this,” he said during an episode of the CPT Crossover, presented by SMART Sports and Chooks-to-Go and supported by LGR Sportswear.
