The Philippine Basketball Association looks at more local government units to donate personal protective equipment to as the country’s fight against the novel coronavirus disease continues.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said that the league has five LGUs in mind so far to dish out much-needed PPEs to for use of the frontliners bravely stepping up to help mitigate the dreaded virus.
“Yes. As of now Pasay, QC, Antipolo, Biñan, at baka Batangas,” Marcial wrote in a text message to Tiebreaker Times.
Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo received the PPEs that were distributed to the frontliners working at Pasig City Children’s Hospital, Pasig City General Hospital, and Rizal Medical Center.
The initiative began when the board of governors decided to donate P 1 million worth PPEs for the frontliners.
The board has agreed to shorten the season and it could either see a two-conference format or just a single tournament, depending on how the current situation will turn out.
Aside from donating PPEs, the league also continues to help its regular employees as well as game-day personnel such as referees, table officials, statisticians, and others.
