The man dressed up as Spider-Man – who caused a delay in Game Five of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel and Magnolia Friday night at Araneta Coliseum – defended himself and said that he meant no harm with his act.
This, even if he bumped into Beermen center June Mar Fajardo and knocked the latter down in the incident that happened with 3:06 left in the fourth quarter – when SMB were in the midst of a comeback from a double-digit deficit.
“Ang message ko po ay pagmamahal,” said ‘Spiderman,’ whose identity is still unknown as of publishing.
“Tapos mananakit ako? ‘Di ko po magagawa.”
Two more men, named Flenn John Lola and Rayahn Paredes as per the ID cards they held, were also arrested by police as they are believed to be accomplices of ‘Spiderman’. All were brought into the police station.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said that they will be filing charges.
“Sigurado kakasuhan namin,” said the executive moments after the match which the Hotshots won, 88-86, through a Mark Barroca game-winner.
“Hindi pa namin alam ang ikakaso pero napag-usapan na ng legal yan, baka dalawa.”
Marcial said that he will convene with the SMART Araneta Coliseum officials, as well as NCRPO chief Guillermo Eleazar, as the league now aims to further strengthen the security in games to prevent such cases from happening again.
“Kakausapin ko Araneta, dagdagan security. Kauspain ko rin General Eleazar na magdagdag ng pulis. Ngayon lang ‘to nangyari eh.”
