Two-time The International champions OG penned a heartfelt tribute to Filipino shoutcaster Aldrin “Dunoo” Pangan who passed away this morning, Friday.
“We are heartbroken to hear about the passing of the legend Aldrin Paulo “Dunoo” Pangan,” opened OG’s statement.
“Your voice lines carried us to 2 Aegis and kept our mental high during every game we played.”
OG found itself in limbo after missing a direct invitation at TI8 following the exodus that saw veterans Tal “Fly” Aizik and Gustav “s4” Magnusson bolt for Evil Geniuses in the midst of the Dota Pro Circuit season.
After picking up a couple of unheralded members in Anathan “Ana” Pham and Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen and convincing coach Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, OG entered the grandest Dota 2 stage as the lowest-ranked squad.
The troika joined holdovers Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka.
There, they made magic, winning the Aegis after taking down Chinese powerhouse PSG.LGD.
And none of that would have been possible without the voice lines of Duno and his partner Marlon “Lon” Marcelo.
OG was the biggest spammers of the “Lakad Matatag! Normalin! Normalin! voiceline, accumulating a total of 305 out of the 1,047 times that the item was used at TI8.
Coach-turned-player Sébastien “Ceb” Debs later revealed that they often use chat wheels to tilt their opponents.
During the True Sight episode of TI8, PSG.LGD midlaner Lu “Somnus” Yao was heard saying that he has muted OG during the finals.
Definitely, Dunoo’s voice touched not just his fellow Filipinos but even the greatest Dota 2 team of all time.
“You will live on in Dota and in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, legend. Yours sincerely, Normalin.”
