The National University Lady Bulldogs made short work of the University of the East Lady Warriors, scoring a sweep 25-12, 25-13, 25-16 in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre earlier today.
NU put the first set out of doubt early, taking a massive 16-9 lead. UE’s errors only boosted the Lady Bulldogs to end the set even quicker. UE totalled 13 errors for the set.
Things looked dimmer for the Lady Warriors in the following frame as NU lept out to an 8-1 lead. UE almost failed to score in double-digits, trailing 6-20, if not for a string of NU errors that got them to 10-21. NU closed the set out with a fury, delivering two consecutive quick sets to Jaja Santiago who threw down monstrous spikes.
UE could not even put up a fight against NU’s backup players, who came in and convincingly sealed the match.All of the Lady Bulldogs scored led by Jaja Santiago’s 11 points and Myla Pablo’s nine. NU also served 14 aces to UE’s one
“Mataas talaga ang confidence ng team ngayon. Pero hindi natin talaga masasabi kung gaano kalaki ang improvement until may makalaban na kaming mas malalakas na kalaban,” said NU head coach Roger Gorayeb.
Team captain Celine Domingo and Shaya Adorador each provided five points for the Lady Warriors.
The Lady Bulldogs next take on the UST Tigresses (0-3) on Saturday, 4 p.m. at the MoA Arena. UE has the DLSU Lady Spikers (3-1) on Sunday, 2 p.m. also at the MoA Arena.
