NU Lady Bulldogs go 5-0 after UAAP 3×3 Day 1

It looks like the National University Lady Bulldogs are planning to have a streak of their own in the UAAP’s 3×3 Basketball Tournament.

The quartet of Rhena Itesi, Ria Nabalan, Jack Animam, and Monique del Carmen have blasted the opposition for far in the UAAP Season 81 edition of the demonstration sport, going 5-0, Saturday at the Ayala Malls Feliz in Pasig.

The Lady Bulldogs soundly defeated the Ateneo Lady Eagles, the DLSU Lady Archers, the FEU Lady Tamaraws, the UE Lady Warriors, and the UP Lady Maroons to the tune of an average margin of 5.6 points per game.

NU’s big three were instrumental in those victories that extended the Lady Bulldogs’ streak to 10 games in the sport. Itesi had norms of 3.8 points and 5.0 rebounds; Nabalan scattered numbers of 3.2 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists; while Animam had averages of 3.4 points and 3.4 rebounds — including a 10-rebound effort against La Salle.

The Lady Bulldogs though will still have the UST Growling Tigresses and the Adamson Lady Falcons left in their slate.

Standing in second place are last season’s Cinderella story, Ateneo. The inside-outside tandem of Zoe Chu and Katrina Guytingco led the Lady Eagles to a 3-1 record.

Mar Prado and the Lady Falcons sit at the third spot with a 2-1 record, their sole loss coming from a 0-3 shutout from the UE Lady Warriors.

Both UE and UST are knotted at fourth with identical 2-2 records. If ever the two teams remain knotted after seven games, the Lady Warriors own the tiebreaker advantage over the Growling Tigresses after Tin Cortizano took charge in a 7-6 victory.

The FEU Lady Tamaraws and the UP Lady Maroons both own a win each while the Lady Archers sit at the bottom with a 0-3 record.
