NU Lady Bulldogs eliminate Adamson from Final Four race

Rose Doria and the National University Lady Bulldogs snapped their three-game losing streak while prolonging the Adamson University Lady Falcons’ run of ineptitude to six matches after a 28-26, 30-32, 25-21, 25-22 win in the UAAP Season 81 Women’s Volleyball tournament at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

NU won their third match in 10 outings. Meanwhile, Adamson, with their 1-9 record, are mathematically eliminated from the Final Four race.

The Lady Bulldogs split two incredibly tight sets, before taking control of a wasteful Adamson to close the match in four frames. The Lady Falcons gave up 20 errors in the last two sets, costing them the match.

First-year NU head coach Norman Miguel was relieved his team had finally picked up a win after a string of losses.

“Happy kami dahil ang tagal naming hindi nagkaroon ng panalo since the second win namin, first round pa ‘yun. Masaya kasi noong nagkaroon kami ng changes sa system namin,” said Miguel, as he swapped the positions of Ivy Lacsina, Audrey Paran, and Gelina Luceño.

“Though may mga lapses pa rin, hoping sa mga next game namin, maging maayos ang galawa namin with that change. Masaya kami na nanalo kami ngayon. Sana mas maganda pa laruin namin sa next game,” the former DLSU Green Spikers head coach added.

NU captain Doria topped all scorers with 18 points. Lacsina, who played middle blocker from her usual open hitter slot, managed 15 markers. The Lady Bulldogs bucked a 44-error tally as Adamson also gave up 38 miscues.

Bernadette Flora led the Lady Falcons with 16 points, while Chiara Permentilla added 14.
