NorthPort replenishes with Sumang, two others

After losing three players, Northport has restocked by signing three free agents, Roi Sumang, Alvin Abundo, and Cris Dumapig for the rest of the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Batang Pier team manager Bonnie Tan confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.

Headlining the signings of the Batang Pier is Sumang.

It will be a homecoming for Sumang as he was drafted by the same team back in 2015.

After being released by NLEX last year, the 5-foot-8 guard out of Tondo played for Nueva Ecija in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go MPBL Invitational Cup, averaging 8.1 points, 2.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per contest.

A Rice Vanguards official also confirmed the development.

Also signed by Northport is 5-foot-8 guard Abundo.2021-Chooks-MPBL-San-Juan-vs-Muntinlupa-Mon-Abundo NorthPort replenishes with Sumang, two others Basketball News PBA - philippine sports news

Abundo, the 51st overall pick in the 2015 Draft, played for Magnolia from 2016-2020.

He then played for San Juan-GFG AICC in the MPBL late last year, averaging 5.4 points, 4.2 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per contest.

San Juan governor Chris Conwi also confirmed the signing.

Finally, the Batang Pier also tapped 6-foot-4 bruiser Dumapig, who played for Zamboanga Sibugay in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup Mindanao Challenge.MPBL-2019-2020-Basilan-vs.-Bacoor-11TH-PHOTO-CRIS-DUMAPIG-BASILAN NorthPort replenishes with Sumang, two others Basketball News PBA - philippine sports news

Tough has been the unwanted break for Northport as it lost Greg Slaughter, Robert Bolick, and Nico Elorde.

Sumang, Abundo, and Dumapig will suit up for Northport on February 12 against Rain or Shine.
