Neil Tolentino bids Arellano farewell, goes pro with MPBL’s Iloilo

After a long collegiate journey that took him to three different schools, Neil Tolentino has decided to move on to the next one.

Tolentino will no longer play out his final year with Arellano University, opting to go pro in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

His family played a huge part in making this tough decision.

“Hindi ko na po kinuha last playing year ko para masuportahan ko family ko.

“After po nung PSL, nag-decide po ako na mag-pro kaya nag-MPBL po ako. Masaya naman kasi medyo disente yung nilalaro ko dito kaya itutuloy-tuloy ko na po ito,” said Tolentino who played for Pampanga Royce Hotel in the PSL and is currently with Iloilo in the MPBL.

Tolentino, who is a product of Letran High School and National University Nazareth School, began his collegiate journey at De La Salle University back in 2018.

After he was not put in the final lineup of the Green Archers, the 6-foot-1 utility winger transferred to University of the East during UAAP Season 82.

Tolentino then transferred to Arellano, playing one season there during NCAA Season 98, averaging 4.11 points and 2.44 rebounds in 18 games played.

Currently with Iloilo, he is currently norming 9.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

And he hopes to enter the PBA Rookie Draft if all goes as planned.

“Kung gumanda pa at magtuloy-tuloy laro ko, baka sumubok po ako sa PBA Draft po.”

Also leaving Arellano were Cade Flores and Travis Mantua.
