NCAA 91 Men’s Beach Volleyball Day 2: Benilde, Mapua, Perpetual locked in three-way tie

Boardwalk Beach in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, a three-way tie at the top spot is forged between undefeated teams De La Salle College of Saint Benilde Blazers, Mapua Institute of Technology Cardinals and the University of Perpetual Help Altas.

The combo of Isaiah Arda and Racmade Etrone combo from Benilde quickly resumed action and successfully gathered convincing wins in the second day of the tournament. They scored a 21-10, 2-10 win against Bobby Gatdula and Harold Reyes of the Letran Knights and followed it up with an 18-21, 21-9, 15-11 win against the Christian Calonia and Amber Gervacio of the San Sebastian Golden Stags. The defending champions punctuated their day with a 21-13, 24-22 win against JRU’s Jethro Ferwelo and Joshua Manzanas.

In Mapua’s side, the duo of Philip Bagalay and Peejay Cuzon started off with a quick 21-13, 21-10 win against JRU. As the day passed, they added two more wins to their collection as they defeated the Arellano University Chiefs via a 21-19, 21-12 and San Sebastian with a 21-11, 21-12 drubbing.

Moving over to Perpetual’s corner, Rey and Relan Taneo once again asserted their will on their opponents. To begin their day, they dispatched the LPU Pirates’ Abram Abrencillo and Joeward Presnede with a 21-16, 21-19 beating and they also mauled Mark Enciso and Alfie Mascarinas of the San Beda Red Spikers with a 21-9, 21-13, They capped things off with a 21-9, 21-17 onslaught over the Letran Knights.

With Benilde, Mapua and Perpetual remaining undefeated with 5-0 records, the rest of team’s standings are as follows: Wehave the EAC Generals at 4-1, AU and LPU at 3-2. Lastly, JRU, SBC, SSCR and CSJL have yet to win a game in the ongoing tournament.
