Bay Area and its head coach Brian Goorjian felt frustrated after they lost grip of Game 3 of the 2022-23 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals.
Holding a nine-point lead in the early parts of the final frame, the Dragons saw their cushion diminish by the second. That eventually led to an 89-82 loss, falling to 1-2 in the best-of-seven affair.
Goorjian opted not to speak to the media afterwards, since he also feels concerned over the status of his import Andrew Nicholson.
But it was Myles Powell who went to social media to express his thoughts on the affair.
“PBA, do better!” he demanded on his Instagram story.
“Foul count was 28-12 and they shot [38] free throws… 40! We shot 10.”
During the last 12 minutes of the game alone, Ginebra attempted 16 free throws.
The huge disparity in free throws also occurred in Game 2.
During the second game, which saw Bay Area tie the series with a 99-82 victory, the visiting Dragons attempted 21 free throws compared to just five for the crowd-darlings.
Y’all saying we shot 21 free throws in game 2 & y’all only shot 5 proves exactly my point 😂😂😂😂 something ain’t right clearly the refs making the difference between who wins or not when it should just be a fair called game 🤷🏾♂️
“Y’all saying we shot 21 free throws in Game Two and y’all only shot five proves exactly my point,” Powell tweeted.
“Something ain’t right clearly the refs making the difference between who wins or not when it should just be a fair called game.”
Powell has yet to play since December 23 after suffering a “pretty serious” foot injury.
Andrew Nicholson suffered an ankle sprain in Game 3.
