MPL PH: Smart Omega shatters Fnatic ONIC’s 13-match winning streak

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

In a stunning turn of events, Smart Omega ended Fnatic ONIC Philippines’ remarkable 13-match winning streak with a thrilling 2-1 victory in a closely contested three-game series on Saturday at Green Sun Hotel in Makati, marking a dramatic conclusion to the second to the last day of MPL Philippines Season 14’s regular season.

In the decisive Game 3, Andrew “Andoryuuu” Flora took control with a masterful performance on Hayabusa, dominating the first 10 minutes with a KDA of seven kills and two assists. His aggressive playstyle overwhelmed FNOP, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

The game’s defining moment came during a crucial Lord push at the 11-minute and 22-second mark in the top lane.

Smart Omega’s precise execution allowed them to eliminate three key members of Fnatic ONIC Philippines, securing their victory moments later.

Andoryuuu finished with a flawless KDA of nine kills and two assists.

“Game 1 was a disaster. They were too passive, so we adjusted our playstyle going into Game 2 and Game 3. But overall, they played really well,” said assistant coach Allec “SN4P” Alvarado in the post-match interview.

Fnatic ONIC Philippines came out strong in Game 1, with Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez shining on Zhuxin, consistently picking off enemies at critical moments. His standout performance earned him the MVP honors with a KDA of eight assists.

Game 2, which lasted 27 minutes and 30 seconds, was an intense battle of skill and strategy as both teams fought relentlessly.

The turning point came at the 26-minute and 47-second mark when Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog, playing Khaleed, initiated a teamfight in the top lane, leading to the elimination of three FNOP members. Smart Omega capitalized on this momentum and secured the game with a top lane push seconds later.
