MPL PH: RSG halts ONIC, extends streak to five

RSG Philippines played spoiler as they snapped ONIC Philippines’ seven-game winning streak with a 2-0 sweep in Week 5 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 on Friday at the Shooting Gallery Studios.

It was RSG’s fifth straight win, improving their record to 6-3 with 16 points, tying with ECHO, who has the same record and points.

The Raiders successfully avenged their Week 1 loss at the hands of ONIC, which started their seven-game win streak.

“As long as we avoid their poisonous heroes and stick to our comfort picks while playing aggressively, we should be ready against ONIC. Today, the draft turned out well. The team played aggressively and remained disciplined as well,” said RSG head coach Brian “Panda” Lim on their victory over ONIC.

“I feel like today’s victory was really sweet because last time, we lost against ONIC in Week 1. We were outdrafted so hard, and we couldn’t play the playstyle that we wanted to.”

RSG pulled off a near-shutout victory in Game 1 as Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo (Arlott) exploded with a 7-0-5 KDA, spearheading a commanding 16-1 lead in kills.

It was a similar story in Game 2 as RSG secured a 15-minute victory with a 14-3 kill score.

Arvie “Aqua” Calderon (Faramis) once again became the greatest thorn, earning the game MVP citation with a perfect 3-0-10 KDA.

Despite the loss, ONIC remained on top with 21 points and a 7-2 record.

RSG will attempt to make it six straight wins on Sunday, April 21, when they face off against ECHO.
