MPL PH: AP Bren continues ONIC woes

AP Bren Esports extended Onic’s winless streak with a convincing 2-0 sweep in Week 2 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

This marked AP Bren’s second victory, rebounding from a tight 2-1 loss to RSG Philippines in their previous match. With this win, they surpassed Blacklist International (with six points) to claim the top spot, boasting a record of 2-1. Defending champions Echo currently hold the second spot with five points and a perfect 2-0 win-loss record.

Finally, well-rested after a grueling IESF World Champion campaign, AP Bren looked lethal in the opening match of Week 2.

“Nakapagprepare na talaga kami sa kanila sa game na to. Last yung plano na lang namin kung ano yung ginamit sa IESF, ayun na lang din ang gagamitin namin sa MPL,” said AP Bren skipper Angel “Pheww” Arcangel on their match against Onic.

Despite taking the lead early in the game, AP Bren found themselves on the losing side during a 13th-minute lord fight in Game 1, thanks to Kenneth “Nets” Barro (Brody), who secured two kills and the lord with a clutch Torn-Apart Memory.

However, Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano (Claude) went on a rampage during the 17th-minute lord fight, achieving a Maniac kill streak that propelled AP Bren to a 4-1 tradeoff and a 1-0 lead.

In Game 2, AP Bren dominated completely, with three players finishing the match without any deaths, resulting in an impressive 13-2 kill score and a 12-minute victory.

Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo (Minotaur) delivered pinpoint set-up plays, boasting a spotless 1-0-8 KDA, while Michael “KyleTzy” Sayson (Baxia) and Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel (Kadita) finished with KDAs of 1-0-10 and 5-0-5, respectively.
