It appears that the FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers Window 2 game between China and Chinese Taipei will be held on neutral ground.
FIBA has listed the SM Mall of Asia Arena as the host for the matchup, scheduled for March 1, 2026, with tip-off set at 4 p.m.
This will precede the Gilas Pilipinas Men versus Australia Boomers game, which is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
During Window 1, China hosted Korea at the Wukesong Arena in Beijing, while Chinese Taipei played its home game against Japan at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City.
The last time these two teams met was at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, where China secured a 101-73 victory to claim the bronze medal.
FIBA has yet to provide a reason for holding the matchup at a neutral venue.
Both squads currently sit at 0-2 in Group B, having lost both their home-and-away games in Window 1.
Before facing each other, Team Dragon will travel to Japan to take on the Akatsuki Five, while Chinese Taipei will head to South Korea to play against the Koreans.
China and Chinese-Taipei’s second match in qualis will be on July 6 with the venue still to be announced.
