MJ Perez, F2 Logistics storm past Foton and into Finals

Pulling 21 points from reigning Most Valuable Player Maria Jose Perez, the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers breezed past the Foton Tornadoes and completed the sweep of their 2018 Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix semifinals series, 25-19, 25-18, 25-21, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Cargo Movers played their best game of the season. Not only was their Venezuelan import on-point, F2 Logistics also limited their errors to a season-low 11 while Foton surrendered 21.

F2 Logistics head coach Arnold Laniog was all-praises for his team’s razor-sharp play.

“I think the mindset of the players is talagang ready na to defend the title. And also yung chemistry talaga, nakikita namin na mas gumaganda, mas tumitibay,” gushed Laniog.

“‘Yung connection, mas lumalalim. Kasi considering na mababaw yung bench namin, talagang ilan lang ‘yung iniikot na regular players namin sa loob. It’s like six players lang including Ara [Galang] dun sa mga spikers namin. Siguro dahil sa konti lang din mas gumaganda yung chemistry, mas tumitibay,” furthered the first-year PSL head coach.

American Kennedy Bryan contributed 10 points for the Cargo Movers while Cha Cruz and Aby Maraño added eight.

The Cargo Movers will face the winner of the semis series between Petron and Cocolife in the best-of-three Finals which begins on May 1 at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Elizabeth Wendel managed 11 markers for the Tornadoes while Channon Thompson managed 10.

Foton takes on the loser of the other semis series in the battle-for-third.
