Cavite now has a state-of-the-art sports facility that can rival the country’s biggest athletic complexes.
Located at Vista Mall in Imus, Cavite, the sprawling 3,500-square-meter establishment features world-class facilities — something new for the province.
Mel Macasaquit built MelMac Sports, the result of decades of hard work and research, giving birth to a space designed to elevate Philippine sports.
“Two decades ago, I started MelMac Sports — probably the first sports marketing agency in the Philippines. We humbled ourselves: studying, listening to veterans, and gaining experience,” Macasaquit said during MelMac Sports’ soft opening held last Monday afternoon.
“We were fortunate to work with Gilas Pilipinas, the Azkals, and the Philippine 3×3 OQT campaign, to name a few. I’ve poured my life into this game — the discipline, and above all, the athlete.
“From a business standpoint, yes, it’s flashy and maybe profitable. But to us? This is life. We live and breathe sports,” he added.
MelMac Sports features a FIBA-approved 5-on-5 court and a FIBA 3×3-approved halfcourt.
Currently, there are three professional pickleball courts, with three more coming in the following weeks, along with a standard tennis court.
Moreover, having previously collaborated with Gold’s Gym, MelMac Sports also features a sports-specific gym.
“MelMac Sports is not just built for hardcore athletes. It’s also for casuals—people who want to move, play, and enjoy sports in a world-class environment,” Macasaquit said.
“In a few weeks, we’ll start the construction of the second and third Melmac Sports facilities — in prime Villar Group locations.”
For recovery, the facility also houses the second-ever Planet MelMac restaurant, with the first branch established in Singapore last year.
For Macasaquit, he poured everything into this project to help shape a culture where Filipino sports can grow without limits.
“Last year, we opened Planet MelMac in Singapore — a small spot conceptualized in Boston, fueled by pure love for fried chicken. Planet MelMac will be open for franchising by July,” he said.
“This is bigger than just facilities. This is about building a home for athletes, dreamers, and everyone who believes in the power of sports.”
