La Salle secures podium finish in UAAP Women’s Chess after draw with UST

De La Salle University secured at least a third-place finish after surviving a tough encounter against the University of Santo Tomas, settling for a 2–2 draw in Round 11 of the UAAP Season 88 Collegiate Women’s Chess Tournament on Wednesday at the Adamson Gym.

With the draw, La Salle retained the top spot with 15 match points, closely followed by National University in second with 14 match points.

UST’s Jamaica Lagrio (6/10) preserved her four-round unbeaten streak by defeating Woman National Master Francois Magpily (5/9) on Board 1, while Princes Oncita (1.5/3) toppled La Salle’s Heart Padilla (3.5/6) on Board 3 to secure the draw.
