Kevin Ferrer has found himself a new home for the upcoming PBA season.
After being let go by Terrafirma, the seasoned wing is taking his talents to TNT after signing a one-year deal, the team announced via social media Monday.
This also ensures that Ferrer continues his journey in the league after being a casualty of the Dyip’s supposed sale that eventually failed.
Along with some of his teammates, the two-time PBA champion with Ginebra was let go by the franchise by the end of their contracts back in mid-June.
They weren’t called back when the team chose to stay in the PBA after discussions with the Zamboanga Valientes for a potential sale bogged down.
It left Ferrer and the others without a team, but the 32-year-old was lucky enough to be picked up by a traditional powerhouse as an unrestricted free agent.
The former UST star is expected to add more depth and shooting to the wing position bannered by Calvin Oftana and two-way guy Glenn Khobuntin.
His arrival at the Tropang 5G has also reunited him with his Gilas family — from head coach Chot Reyes to one of his contemporaries in Roger Pogoy.
A part of the special Gilas draft in 2016, he’s now with his fourth team in the PBA, having played for NorthPort from 2019–22 before being sent to Terrafirma.
Ferrer is hoping to rekindle a career marred by injuries now that he’s joining a team that fell just two wins short of winning a Grand Slam last season.
