Ken Tuffin cleared by FEU to play for Taranaki

Far Eastern University athletic director Mark Molina has ensured that Ken Tuffin gets the blessing to play for Taranaki in the New Zealand National Basketball League.

Tuesday evening, Molina received clearance for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines that proved that the NZ-NBL is a semi-pro league and that Tuffin has yet to turn pro.

To make sure that he got clearance first, Tuffin sat out the Mountaineers’ games against Nelson Giants, which Taranaki won, 112-96.

“Didn’t play last night. Had to sit out just to be sure,” said the 23-year-old swingman, who was selected as the 44th overall pick in the NZ-NBL Draft.

Tuffin will debut tonight against the Franklin Bulls.

And he can’t wait to suit up with his new squad.

“I’m quite excited, looking forward to getting out there and helping my team and contributing in any way they need me to.”
