Jude Eriobu tops UAAP Season 88 SP ladder; Cabs Cabonilas, Zaydhen Rosano lead MVP race


Jude Eriobu has built a commanding lead in the UAAP Season 88 High School Boys’ Basketball statistical points race after the first round of action.

The 6-foot-10 big man tallied 105.857 SPs, thanks to his averages of 23.71 points, 17.14 rebounds, 2.71 blocks, and 1.43 steals, powering Ateneo de Manila University to a 6-1 record.

If Eriobu maintains his dominance through the elimination round, the 17-year-old Nigerian will be awarded the Best Foreign Student-Athlete honor.

Trailing him is last season’s MVP runner-up, Cabs Cabonilas, who has 87.0 SPs with averages of 17.0 points, 8.43 rebounds, 4.14 assists, 1.71 steals, and 1.58 blocks, helping the Baby Tamaraws achieve a 6-1 record.

Kirk Canete of the University of Santo Tomas sits third with 71.429 SPs, narrowly ahead of Maco Dabao of De La Salle-Zobel with 71.286 SPs.

Completing the top five is National University Nazareth School’s Malian big man Moussa Diakite, a member of the UAAP Season 88 Junior High School Boys’ Basketball Elite Team, with 70.714 SPs.

Rounding out the top 10 are: Ateneo’s Zane Kallos (67.143), NUNS’s Mot Matias (66.857), University of the East’s Ethan Aguas (65.286), Ateneo’s Jay M. Leal (65.286), and Ateneo’s Noah Banal (64.571).

In the girls’ division, Zaydhen Rosano of NUNS leads with 108.667 SPs, 8.333 points ahead of UST’s Rhianne Perez. Rosano is averaging 14.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 6.67 assists, and 6.33 steals in the Lady Bullpups’ 3-0 start.

Perez is putting up 14.33 points, 8.67 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 4.0 steals, and 1.67 blocks per game, while Aubrey Lapasaran of NUNS is third with 92.0 SPs.
