Mark Belmonte has decided to carve his own path.
The 6-foot-6 forward no longer enrolled at the University of the Philippines for the second semester of the academic year, ending his stint with the Diliman-based program.
UP Office of Athletics and Sports Development director Bo Perasol confirmed the development, expressing his gratitude to Belmonte for his contributions to the school and wishing him well in his next chapter.
“Mark will always have his place as a champion in Diliman. Mula Seasons 86 hanggang 88, we are thankful to him for playing his part in our continued success,” said Perasol.
“We wish him the best at panigurado, he will keep playing his part for his next team.”
A product of San Sebastian’s high school program, Belmonte spent the last three years with the Fighting Maroons.
Last season, he averaged 2.82 points and 1.94 rebounds across 17 games, with a season-high 12-point outing recorded on September 21.
The 21-year-old native of Calumpit, Bulacan has exhausted his UAAP eligibility due to the league’s new rules and is now looking to transfer to an NCAA school.
