Filipino-Australian guard Jordan Heading is finally set to make his debut in the Philippine Basketball Association as he joins Converge.
In a trade with Terrafirma, Converge has acquired the 6-foot-2 sharpshooter, while the Dyip receive Aljun Melecio, Keith Zaldivar, and a first-round pick in the PBA Season 51 Rookie Draft.
Converge assistant coach Charles Tiu, who confirmed the acquisition, expressed his excitement about reuniting with Heading.
The two previously collaborated in international competitions, where Heading proved to be a key player for Tiu.
“It feels great to be reunited with Jordan,” Tiu shared with Tiebreaker Times. “He’s been one of my go-to guys with Strong Group, especially during our campaigns in Dubai and the Jones Cup. Having him on the team brings a lot of confidence—he knows what it takes to win and how to make big plays when it matters.”
Tiu expressed his excitementover reuniting with Jordan Heading, sharing how much he looked forward to working with him again:
“After the Jones Cup, I was talking to him about how much I wanted to work with him again,” Tiu said. “Big credit to our management and Gov. Archen Cayabyab for making the deal happen. They put in the work to bring Jordan here, and we’re all thrilled to have him join Converge.”
Heading was the first overall pick in the Gilas round of the 2020 PBA Rookie Draft.
However, Heading opted to go overseas, playing for T1 club Taichung Wagor during the 2021-22 season before going to the B.League and play for Nagasaki a year later.
Since last year, Heading has been a free agent, signing with Strong Group when it has an international campaign.
Now, he comes back home.
Meanwhile, Melecio was one of the first acquisitions of Aldin Ayo during his tenure with the FiberXers, playing for Converge for the past two years.
On the other hand, Zaldivar was a free agent signing of Converge last year.
